Paul Walker, best known for the Fast & Furious films, died on 30 November when the Porsche he was in crashed and caught fire. The 40-year-old was a passenger in the car, which crashed into a lamp post near Los Angeles.

His Fast & Furious co-star Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson paid tribute on Twitter: “All my strength, love and faith to the Walker family during this heartbreaking time,” he wrote. “We find our strength in his light. Love you brother.”

James Gandolfini

James Gandolfini, best known for his role in The Sopranos, passed away in June. The 51-year-old had a heart attack while in Rome to attend the Taormina Film Festival.

Accomplished stage and screen actor Richard Griffiths won a new generation of fans when he played Uncle Vernon in the Harry Potter movies. He passed away in March due to complications after heart surgery; he was 65.

Dennis Farina

Dennis Farina was best known for roles in Get Shorty and Saving Private Ryan, as well as the TV series Law & Order. He died in July, aged 69, after suffering a lung blockage.

Novelist Tom Clancy, whose books were turned into blockbusters Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears, passed away in October aged 66.

Bollywood actress Jiah Khan pased away in June in an apparent suicide, aged just 25. She is best known for playing the female lead in Ghajini, the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2008.

Conrad Bain, who played lovable father Phillip Drummond on the seventies sitcom Diff’rent Strokes, died of natural causes in January, aged 89.

Velvet Underground founder Lou Reed died in October at the age of 71. Famous for tracks 'Walk on the Wild Side' and 'Perfect Day', the American songwriter suffered liver failure.
